Dr Sandie Copland had an unusual academic background before studying dentistry, having first studied for a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration at the University of Newcastle, then obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (Orthoptics) (Hons) in 2008 from the University of Sydney.
After realising that dentistry would combine her passions for science, art and caring for people, Sandie decided to study for a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne.
On graduating in 2014 Sandie was offered a position at Smile Solutions, where she has worked ever since.
Sandie is interested in all aspects of dentistry – including cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, crowns and ceramic dentistry, fillings, paediatric dentistry, and extractions when appropriate. Her general approach is preventative and patient centred and she especially enjoys interacting with her patients.
While with Smile Solutions, Sandie has gained great satisfaction from helping previously homeless people to smile again through the practice’s charitable contribution to the Magpie Nest Housing Project. She also enjoys converting patients who are fearful of the dentist into patients who enjoy coming to Smile Solutions.
