Dr. Ruchi Agarwal completed her specialty degree in Periodontics (DCD) from the University of Melbourne in 2024. With a lifelong passion for dentistry, she initially obtained her Bachelor’s and Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontics from India before relocating to Melbourne in 2010. Since then, she has been practicing as a general dentist with a special interest in periodontics. Driven by her commitment to preserving natural teeth, she pursued specialized training in Periodontics, in 2022 to deepen her expertise in the field.

During her studies, Dr. Agarwal was recognized for her exceptional performance, clinical skills, patient care, and achieving the highest marks in Periodontics at the University. In 2004, she was awarded the “Gold Medal by Colgate Palmolive India Ltd.” She was also presented with a Merit Certificate and the “Plak Trophy.”

During her specialized training in Periodontics in India, Dr. Agarwal conducted research on the "Correlative Significance Between Anemia and Periodontitis, and the Impact of Two Different Modalities of Therapy on Hematological Outcomes." In 2014, Dr. Agarwal had the privilege of attending the International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) Conclave in Bangkok, where she contributed to discussions on “Global Strategies for Addressing Periodontal Health and Disease.”

A passionate educator, Dr. Agarwal has been mentoring students as a clinical supervisor in the Department of Periodontics at Melbourne Dental School since 2012, finding joy in helping the next generation of dental professionals. Her expertise includes both non-surgical and surgical management of periodontitis, bone grafting, gum grafting, crown lengthening, periodontal regeneration, dental implant placement, and the treatment of peri-implantitis.

Dr. Agarwal is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, the Australian Society of Periodontology, the Australian Dental Association, and the International Team for Implantology. Committed to evidence-based care, she continually seeks to expand her knowledge and refine her skills in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Agarwal enjoys traveling, painting, dancing, and spending quality time with her family.
