Prosthodontics
Prosthodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on the restoration of teeth that require crowns, veneers, bridges, implants, dentures or any combination of these. The term prosthodontics means, literally, “tooth replacement”.
Our prosthodontists are experienced in a range of procedures, from single tooth management through to full arch rehabilitations and Teeth in 3 days™.
At Smile Solutions our registered specialist prosthodontists Dr Jamie Foong and Dr Zaina Hamudi work in conjunction with our specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr Patrishia Bordbar and our specialist periodontist Dr Rory Nolan, who has vast experience with immediate implants, to comprehensively cater for all your complex crown, bridge, complete arch rehabilitation and implant requirements.
What do “teeth in an hour/immediate teeth” dental implant procedures entail?
These procedures involve placing the implant and replacement tooth all at the same time, rather than waiting for three to six months between the first and second stages. Known in the dental profession as “immediate loading”, this instant process means you can have your new tooth in around an hour.
Generally only patients with ample jawbone density and with no other predisposing risk factors are appropriate candidates for immediate loading. However, there can be disadvantages with this procedure, the greatest being the higher risk of implant failure where bone integration is inadequate. This can happen if the jawbone doesn't have enough time to fuse properly with the implant.
To avoid any likelihood of implant failure, our team of registered specialists will discuss the pros and cons of this procedure with you in the context of your particular condition and circumstances.

Periodontics
Prevention is a primary focus of the Smile Solutions practice. Our team of seven dental hygienists – comprising Sophie Oostermeyer, Samantha Makin, Jennifer Slattery, Emily Marson, Naomi Hoopman, Chatelle Wehi and Isabelle Sayers – are essential to making this possible.
Dental hygiene begins with the assessment and evaluation of your periodontal (gum) tissue.
An ideal home dental care routine is then designed for you. To enhance your home care, assistance is provided in the surgery, involving removal of plaque, calculus (tartar), general staining and the application of decay-preventing agents as required.
If you are undergoing dental restorative or cosmetic treatment, a revised home care routine will be designed for you and monitored as the treatment progresses. This will enable the best possible treatment outcome.
Regular hygiene appointments, along with optimum home care, ensure ongoing maintenance of your teeth and gums.

If you require additional advanced periodontal treatment, we offer the services of Dr Rory Nolan, our registered specialist periodontist; and Dr James van den Berg (practice restricted to implants and periodontal care).
Periodontics is the field of dentistry that that focuses on implant surgery, bone grafts, periodontal surgery, gum lifts, and treatment of gingivitis and periodontal disease (gum disease).
Conventional dental implantation is the process of replacing missing teeth or teeth that cannot be saved by conventional means. Implants range from single-tooth replacement to a complete upper and lower arch replacement.
Bone grafting, or bone “augmentation”, involves the insertion of synthetic filler bone to encourage growth of the natural bone around it.
A cosmetic lifting of the gum line of the front six teeth, known as a gum lift, is today carried out quickly and effectively using laser. This procedure is virtually painless, does not require stitches and produces relatively quick healing.
