At Smile Solutions your All-on-4® dental implant treatment will be performed by members of our team of board registered specialist prosthodontists, periodontists, oral & maxillofacial surgeons, and dual medical qualified dental surgeons – not a general dentist providing care across multiple fields or specialities. Therefore, you can rest assured you’re in the safest hands.
To qualify as a registered specialist in Australia, practitioners must first have the same degree as a general dentist. They then study for a further Masters degree or equivalent, or a PhD in a particular field, making them eligible to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a specialist.
Hand-crafted ceramic teeth, no acrylic denture teeth or printed plastic resin teeth
At Smile Solutions we offer ceramic zirconia and re-enforced titanium bar for the same price as printed resin or denture acrylic, all with a board-registered specialist, not a general dentist.
For your permanent fixed bridge, we principally work with ceramic material, not acrylic denture teeth or any other inferior printed resin (plastic) material. Ceramic is a superior option for several reasons, including better durability to ensure a longer lifespan and resistance to wear and tear, making them more cost elective in the long run. Ceramic teeth are also highly resistant to staining, which means they maintain their brightness and colour over time with proper care.
Ceramic bridges also closely mimic the natural translucency, texture and shape of real teeth, providing a more natural-looking smile. In contrast, printed resin and acrylic often have a flat, uniform colour across all the teeth, lacking any natural variation, and are prefabricated with a “stock” shape that doesn’t match the natural contours of your teeth, resulting in a less natural appearance.
Titanium Bar Substructure in every case, not a bridge prone to fracture
The titanium bar substructure plays an important role in the success and longevity of the All-on-4® dental implant bridge. Serving as a strong foundation, it securely supports the prosthetic teeth in place, distributing chewing forces evenly across the implants and preserving the underlying bone structure. In-house laboratory made in Melbourne
Our in-house Smile Solutions laboratory has been set up exclusively to service our own patients. Our ceramists and lab technicians do not work with any clinicians outside of Smile Solutions, allowing them to dedicate all their time to creating the very best work for our patients. We do not send any of our work offshore and only purchase TGA-approved products in the manufacture of our appliances.
Temporary bridge in 1-2 days, and permanent bridge in 3-6 months
Waiting 3-6 months for healing allows your bone and gums to recover properly after surgery before the final fabrication of the permanent bridge.
Procedure done in a private hospital with private health insurance
If you have private health insurance with hospital cover, your treatment can be performed in the comfort and safety of a private hospital, rather than under local anaesthetic in a dental chair. Certain aspects of the procedure are also covered by Medicare, allowing you to access relevant Medicare rebates. Hospitals offer the highest level of safety and are the best option for:
- Patients with private health insurance and hospital cover TM
- Older patients
- Dental phobic patients
- Those with pre-existing or co-existing medical conditions
- Procedures involving bone grafting, sinus lifts, or other complex surgeries
It’s important to note that general dentists cannot perform these procedures in a hospital; only registered specialists and dual-qualified medical surgeons are authorised to do so.

PF1 where we can, not PF3
In All-on-4® dentistry, “PF” stands for prosthetic framework. PF1 bridges have little to no pink and closely follow the the natural bone contours, while PF3 bridges rely on larger volumes of pink acrylic or ceramic to compensate for significant bone loss or aggressive surgical reduction.
At Smile Solutions we aim for PF1 wherever possible, which means preserving bone rather than removing it unnecessarily. Achieving a PF1 outcome demands a high level of skill across the entire team:
- The implant surgeon must be conservative
- The prosthodontist must design with precision
- The ceramist must craft with minimal need for camouflage
The result is a more natural fit, better soft tissue support, and preserved bone – essentially if future treatment is ever needed. We don’t take shortcuts; we plan for long-term health.
