Speciality – Oral Hygiene and Dental TherapyQualifications – BOH (La Trobe)
After many years working as a dental assistant, Milly Mengistu decided to pursue a Bachelor of Oral Health Science. She graduated from La Trobe University in 2018 and started working in the public sector.
During her graduate year, Milly volunteered as an executive committee member for the Victorian branch of the Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’ Association. As part of her volunteering, she organised lunch study groups for university students and set up health promotion stalls at community festivals and events.
Milly’s interests are in health promotion, and community and social justice. She strongly believes successful health outcomes are achieved when the clinician and the client collaborate on the client’s oral health. Milly enjoys making a conscious effort to empower and educate her clients about their own oral health. As an oral health therapist, she prides herself on taking her time with patients to build a positive relationship, so they look forward to their next visit.
